Matthew Marble Ring Works: Ice Round

To create this sound piece, the artist collection Mason jars, creations handles from wire, twine and fabric and adapted these handles to the jars. He collected rainwater, froze it and sealed the ice in the jars. Six of these "instruments" were used in the performance. As the ice melts, the sound changes from a sharp, abrasive sound to a smoother melodic quality. This mini-solo exhibition also features a book on the artist's ideas and a sample of one of the instruments used in the creation of the audio work. [ more information ]
