2/1/2012 From: 5:00 PM - 6:30 PM Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy for Depression (MBCT) is an innovative and highly researched program designed to help people who suffer chronic or repeated bouts of depression to prevent relapse. NOTE: Participation in this introductory session is not required for participation in the program and is not part of the 8 week program. DETAILS ABOUT THE COURSE: The program combines the clinical application of mindfulness meditation with the tools of cognitive therapy and is based on the model developed by Jon Kabat- Zinn. MBCT teaches us to recognize the link between low mood and negative spiraling thoughts which can lead into isolation and "living in our head". Mindfulness helps us to shift mental gears and to be more trusting of our strengths. This rigorous course mixes didactic, experiential, and small group learning, and includes meditation and yoga in an 8 week 2 hour class format and an all day retreat. FULL PROGRAM BEGINS February 8.
